Students celebrate strong GCSE results

Students and staff at Ormiston Meridian Academy are celebrating today as Year 11 students collect their GCSE results, marking the culmination of years of hard work, commitment and determination.

The school is celebrating the achievements of its students, who have shown resilience and ambition throughout their studies and are now preparing to take their next steps in education, training or employment.

The whole school community has come together today to mark the students’ achievements, hard work and dedication, as they look ahead to the next stage of their education.

While all students have achieved well, some individual achievements include:

  • Hadiya achieved grade 9s in English Literature, French and Double Science alongside grade 8s in Maths, History, Psychology and Business.

The results come as Ormiston Meridian Academy also celebrates the findings of its latest Ofsted inspection in June, which recognised the school’s inclusive culture, ambitious curriculum and commitment to pupils’ personal development and wellbeing. In its first inspection under Ofsted’s new national framework, the academy was judged to be at a strong standard for personal development and wellbeing, while meeting the expected standard across achievement, curriculum and teaching, inclusion, leadership and governance, and attendance and behaviour.

Inspectors particularly highlighted the strong sense of belonging across the academy, teachers’ high expectations for all pupils and the breadth of opportunities available to help young people develop the confidence and ambition to succeed.

Claire Stanyer, Principal at Ormiston Meridian Academy, said:

“Seeing our Year 11 students receive their results today has been a very proud moment for everyone at the school. They have worked with focus, resilience and ambition, and thoroughly deserve to celebrate their success.

“We wish them every happiness and success as they move on to further education, training, apprenticeships and employment.”
