World Book Day

The students and staff of Ormiston Meridian Academy celebrated the wonder that is the written word with a variety of activities to mark World Book Day 2019.  Staff dressed as a wide variety of characters from literature in order to widen students’ knowledge of the variety that both fiction and non-fiction has to offer.  Everything from crime and horror (represented by our very own Poirot, Sherlock Holmes and Dr Frankenstein) to classic children’s stories (Alice in Wonderland) were represented in the fantastic outfits donned by our dedicated team.

Students in years 7 and 8  took part in a quote quest in which they had to engage with staff, talking to them about their characters while broadening their understanding of literature with which they may previously have been unfamiliar.

The library ran a ‘Books Battleships’ competition which encouraged the students to use cryptic clues in order to find books on the shelves.

Well done to all those who took part and particularly to Cole Harvey and Loren Adams (both year 7) for winning the quote quest and receiving a fantastic new book each.

A fantastic day was had by all and we can’t wait for next year!
