World Book Day

Once again, the staff of Ormiston Meridian Academy highlighted the importance of reading and literacy through their participation in World Book Day, dressing up as some of the iconic characters from literature, both classic and contemporary. All genres from Gothic horror to whimsical animated stories were represented. Students were encouraged to question those adopting a different persona for the day, in order to gain understanding of books and characters otherwise unknown to them thus enriching their experience of the literary world.

The Harry Potter books remain a popular choice and some students enjoyed lessons being placed into their ‘houses’ by the sorting hat! Go Gryffindor!

However, the undisputed star of the day was our own headteacher, Mr. Jones, whose portrayal of the omniscient Inspector Goole from the Priestley play, An Inspector Calls, will remain imprinted on our memories for a long time to come.
