The Learning Support Centre is a safe, calm environment within the college where students can receive additional support and interventions to improve progress, building confidence and self-esteem. This enables students to access, and eventually be reintegrated into, mainstream school lessons.
The LSC is used as a full time or part time placement for a short period of time depending on individual needs.
We have a well-resourced area with a dedicated team who are always available for our students.
The staff spend one-to-one time with students, having discussions and giving them time to air their views and identify barriers to learning and progress. The students complete work set by their subject teachers. High expectations for behaviour, progress and learning are set.
The area is also used for a variety of activities, such as The Learning Curve, reading programmes, breakfast club and group works. Outside agencies also run drop in sessions for students at lunchtimes.
