Students from some of our Y7 and Y8 classes have been exercising their imagination in preparation for this year’s creative writing competition, hosted by SASCAL, as part of the Stoke-on-Trent Literary Festival.
They had to devise a short story on the theme of ‘dreams’, which was chosen to commemorate the 200th anniversary since the publication of Mary Shelley’s ‘Frankenstein’, which she claimed came to her as a ‘waking dream’.
After reading some excellent entries, the five ‘in-house’ finalists were Ewan Boughey, Rebecca Sykes, Anthony Moody, Courtney Blakeman and Francesca Infantino. Mr Jones selected Ewan’s and Courtney’s to be submitted to the competition, as the academy’s maximum two entries.
We wish both of them lots of luck and well done to all students who participated!
