Knowledge is Power
On Wednesday 11 th October the Art department took a group of year 9 and 10 students to the British Ceramics Biennial event, working at the Spode factory site in Stoke. Students had the opportunity to work alongside ceramicist Jo Ayre in the second part of the Knowledge is Power (KIP) project, creating their own clay book.
Whilst creating their work members of the public visiting the exhibition space came to see what the students were making, asking them questions and giving the students some feedback on their creations. After lunch students then had the opportunity to work with Wavemaker looking at coding, colour and sound in an interactive digital workshop using Raspberry Pi technology.
A very creative, active, at times messy and enjoyable day was had by all! The work completed during the day will go towards students achieving the Arts Award Explore.
