13 GCSE History students are currently in Berlin visiting sites such as the Holocaust Memorial, Topography of Terror, memorials for those who died trying to cross the Berlin Wall and the Reichstag.
Day 2 of our Berlin adventure took us to us on a long trip to Gleis 17, where Jews in Berlin were transported to various death camps. This was a sobering moment for the students as it brought to life the horrors of the Holocaust.
Students also visited the Wannsee Villa, where leading Nazis decided on the Final Solution. The students were able to learn about anti-Semitism in Nazi Germany and the key events in the Holocaust. The session was expertly lead by a local historian.
